LA VISIONE TRASPARENTE (2023 – 2024)
Claudio Gobbi’s project in Agrigento is inspired by a small painting by Caspar David Friedrich (1774 – 1840) titled Junotempel in Agrigent (1828 – 1830), hosted by the Museum für Kunst und Kulturgeschichte in Dortmund. Although Friedrich never visited Sicily he depicted an idealized vision of a landscape with ruins, quite a popular subject at the time, based on an engraving of the temple of Juno. Friedrich’s lack of presence in Agrigento and his indirect experience through the engraving becomes a lens through which we can focus on the dematerialization of photographs in the digital era, their pervasiveness and predictability, and the consequent vanishing role of the author in the “iconosphere” we live in. *
